New Years Eve in Miami Beach & A few random notes to remember for the new year…

1.  Cab drivers rule Miami Beach on New Year’s Eve.  We walked ALOT but twice needed to go 23 blocks from one location to another and it took us half an hour (maybe longer) each time to catch a cab.

2.  When questioning weather to carry a small clutch or larger one, carry the larger one and throw in some flip flops or ballet slippers for the long walk home when all of the cab drivers turn into gods and decide to pick and choose who they will drive by longest distance.  Yes this happened… three times.

3.  Ocean drive on top of a hotel roof was the BEST place I have ever watched the fireworks display.  Sorry, but this beat all of the high rise balconies and pool decks from previous years.  It also beat my condo balcony on Brickell.

4.  Miami Beach is an amazing city to live in and I need to remember to take a break more often and enjoy where I live.

5.  Go the grocery store before New Year’s eve.  New Year’s Eve is a mad house and on New Year’s Day when you don’t want to go out of the house, restaurant delivery takes FOREVER…

6.  Be  very, very nice to tourists and out of towners.  They are always eyeing our city and they were out in full force last night spending lots of money.  After speaking with a few last night, I heard over and over again about how they would love to live in Miami Beach or purchase a vacation home on the beach.  Treat them kindly.  Lay off the horn.

7.  Last night was probably one of the best New Year’s that I have ever spent in Miami and I had no plans to do anything.  In fact I had planned to stay at home, relax and watch bad TV movies.  But at the last minute 0ne of my best friends called and he had invites to various restaurants and clubs.  It was great, unplanned, no schedule and the most fun ever.

8.  I am a very lucky girl.  I have great family, fabulous friends, a very supportive husband, a thriving business and I live in an amazing city.

9.  2009 is going to be great!  I am so excited to get started.
